Romantic Scotland Wedding Photography
There’s something special about intimate weddings, and this one at Carrick Castle Estate, surrounded by the Scottish mountains and overlooking Loch Goil, was a lovely reminder of just how personal a wedding can be.
The October sunshine was unusually warm, bathing the estate in beautiful golden light. For a moment, the setting felt more like the Italian countryside than the Scottish Highlands!
What I loved most about this wedding was how much it reflected the couple. Rather than following traditional wedding trends, they built the day around the things they love. The result was a wonderful mix of fairytale charm, romantic details and a nostalgic, film-like feel.
The bride arrived on a beautiful speckled horse, with a little pony carrying flowers alongside her. An owl even made an appearance to deliver the wedding rings! Their love of animals was part of the celebration from beginning to end, adding some rather special moments to the day.
The bride's Spanish-inspired veil was another favourite detail, bringing a touch of romance to her look. Later, we headed into the surrounding mountains for couple portraits, taking the antique Jeep along for the ride. Between the dramatic scenery, warm October light and vintage vehicle, the photographs had a lovely cinematic quality, somewhere between a fairytale and a still from an old film.
As a Scotland wedding photographer, I love working with couples who aren't afraid to make their wedding their own. Whether it's arriving on horseback, having birds of prey deliver the rings or taking an antique Jeep into the mountains, it's these personal touches that make each celebration different.
A wedding might last just one day, but the moments that happen along the way are worth holding on to. The unexpected, the laughter and all the little things that make the day yours.
If you're planning an intimate wedding in Scotland, dreaming of a castle celebration or something a little more adventurous in the Scottish Highlands, don't feel you have to follow a set formula. Make it personal, include the things you love and enjoy every bit of it. After all, it's your story to tell.
With Love,
Sky
