A Chic Glasgow City Wedding
Traditional houston & Killellan Kirk Ceremony and Sherbrooke Castle Hotel Reception
Set in the heart of the city, this chic Glasgow city wedding began with a traditional ceremony at Houston & Killellan Kirk, followed by an elegant celebration at Sherbrooke Castle Hotel. Madeleine and Graeme’s style beautifully weaved tradition with modern elegance and a subtle retro edge. The day brought together vintage family heirlooms, fashion-forward bridal choices, and a classic 1962 getaway car waiting curbside—a knowing nod to the past. Surrounded by those who mattered most, it was intimate, thoughtful, and full of character, the kind of wedding that feels deeply personal and reveals itself beautifully the more you linger.
The iconic cameo choker, a style with roots stretching back to the 16th century, was a beautiful choice that added a touch of vintage with the modern bridal look. Traditionally carved from shell or stone and long associated with classical portraiture, cameo jewellry has been worn for centuries as a symbol of heritage and craftsmanship. This piece carried even deeper meaning, having been passed down from her mother’s grandmother, transforming it from an accessory into a living heirloom. Objects full of meaning never go out of fashion.
During the bustle of the morning, bespoke Henderson flowers arrived, boasting thistles and white roses, that perfectly reflect the Scottish setting and the Winter season, as well as corsages for the mother of the bride and groomsmen. All the looks were beautifully crafted by Jennifer Mathieson.
This beautiful hair band, supplied by Arianna Bespoke Accessories, added a subtle wow factor, elevating the stunning gown by Sassi Holford Dress and of course what better way to celebrate your completed look, but by having a final reveal with your bridesmaids!
Groom’s ancient lamont tartan supplied by Slanj Kilts was a beautiful coloruful addition, helping the couple stand out against the muted winter landscape. Considering the season when choosing your palette is key—during deep winter, richer tones add impact where vegetation is sparse, whereas the same teal would soften and blend into summer foliage.
I approach post-processing as an artistic extension of your wedding’s essence. My editing philosophy combines a bold, modern look with nostalgic, vintage-inspired undertones found in the outdoor and reception photos to create a timeless, editorial feel. I tailor my techniques to the environment: enhancing the natural, cool, and earthy tones of outdoor settings, or using high-contrast flash to emphasize the intimate, textured details of your reception room. Every choice is intentional, designed to mirror the authentic vibe and emotion of your celebration
Sherbrooke Castle Hotel with both the conservatory, beautiful grounds and an ample dance floor, was an excellent choice to host a wedding! Not to forget to mention that the cake was made by the groom himself!
I hope you got some inspiration from this fabulous wedding and useful links to plan your own :) Until the next one.
Lots of love,
Sky
