A Nostalgic Love Story in Glasgow
West End charm, vintage details and an intimate celebration in the heart of the city
Iona and Stuart tied the knot at Trades Hall in Glasgow, celebrating with their closest family and friends for an intimate micro wedding that felt personal, warm, and very much their own.
They approached their day in a way that reflected their personalities, choosing to take the subway from the ceremony at Trades Hall to their reception in the West End. It was a simple but memorable part of the day, bringing a sense of everyday Glasgow life into their wedding story and creating a celebration centred around the people and places that mattered to them.
As a photographer, it is often the small details that catch my attention and help tell the story of a day. On the way to the subway, I noticed the “Rains” sign outside a shop — a small coincidence that felt fitting given the Glasgow weather. These are the moments that documentary photography captures: the quiet details and unexpected connections that become part of the visual story.
The day moved through different moods, from the soft morning light filtering through the windows of the West End as Iona and her bridesmaids got ready, to the rich colours and elegant atmosphere of Trades Hall. The photographs carried a mixture of romance and character — soft, nostalgic frames alongside images with a little more energy and personality, drawing inspiration from the visual language of the early 2000s while still feeling connected to the couple and their surroundings.
Iona and Stuart’s wedding was a celebration that reflected them — intimate, family-focused, and full of the small details that made the day uniquely theirs.
