Editorial Wedding Inspiration in the Scottish Highlands

George and Alice brought their closest friends and family to the romantic escape of Boturich Castle for a wedding weekend that positively blazed with sunshine. In fact, with the light dancing across Loch Lomond and the islands dotted quietly in the distance, you could almost convince yourself you had somehow wandered into Lake Como — only with a distinctly Scottish charm and a little less risk of running into paparazzi.

From the groom’s family side came the inspiration for the MacGregor tartan and colour palette, beautifully supplied by MacGregor and MacDuff. The rich tones brought a refined burst of colour to the day and made for an effortlessly elegant look amongst the groomsmen — proof that traditional Scottish elements can feel both timeless and editorial when styled thoughtfully. Inside the castle, spring had very much arrived. The interiors were filled with delicate seasonal blooms, and every time you stepped into the dining hall, you were met with the soft scent of fresh flowers and spring meadows.

And of course, no wedding is complete without the wonderfully personal details that make a celebration truly memorable. One of my favourite touches was the hanging tree of keepsakes and messages, where guests could leave notes, sketches, and little moments of wisdom for the couple to look back on for years to come. The reception tables were also organised into Harry Potter houses, which immediately told me these were very much “their people.” Elegant? Yes. But also completely unafraid to have fun.

The bridesmaids looked as though they had stepped out of an impressionist painting. Their soft green dresses blended beautifully with the blooming surroundings and created an overall painterly atmosphere, which had me reminiscing about Monet’s Garden paintings.

Although the day held an undeniably elegant air, there were plenty of moments that reminded everyone that weddings are also about joy, silliness, and making memories with the people you love most. Some of the group photographs quickly descended into laughter, questionable posing ideas, and the sort of chaos that becomes funnier every year you look back on it. Honestly, those are often the moments people treasure most — reminders of what it felt like to be young, carefree, and entirely present with one another.

George and Alice’s wedding was the perfect balance of luxury and personality, romance and humour, refinement and fun. A stylish London couple bringing their favourite people to the Scottish Highlands for a weekend that felt cinematic, heartfelt, and completely unforgettable.
